Luke Hylands, Canadian filmmaker and son of an actor, announced his death on social media as an “eternal hero and best friend”.
Born on February 27, 1943, in Lethbridge, in the province of Alberta, Canada, Hylands began studying zoology at the University of British Columbia before moving to theater. His stage debut took place in New York, in an off-Broadway production of "The Fabulous World of Billy Liar" in 1965. In cinema, he appeared for the first time in "The Psycho of Fear", in 1969 and, over the following decade, he was part of the cast of films such as "Earthquake" and "The Boys in Company C", as well as series such as "Wonder Woman" and "Hart to Hart".
Back in Canada in the 1980s, he gained prominence as detective Kevin "OB" O'Brien in the police series "Night Heat", shown between 1985 and 1989. Later, he played Father Travis in the remake of "V" and accumulated roles in productions such as "The X-Files", "Supernatural", "Fargo", "Heartland" and "Wynonna Earp".
