In the new post, Michelle states that the defense of people with disabilities is an agenda that is "above any ideology or party" and cites as an example the sanction, by Jair Bolsonaro, of the Amália Barros Law - a project authored by a PT parliamentarian who recognized monocular vision as a sensory disability. According to her, her husband evaluated the merit of the proposal regardless of who presented it.
The former first lady also claims that the bilingual education policy for the deaf was drawn up during the Bolsonaro government, but its processing was delayed by a lawsuit, which would have prevented its delivery before the end of the mandate. She concludes by stating that the most important thing is not the authorship of the policy, but its beneficiaries, and congratulates the deaf community once again.
Understand the criticism of Michelle Bolsonaro
The publication is a response to the reaction from part of the Bolsonarist base after Michelle classified the MEC program as a "dream come true" and congratulated the deaf community in a post on Friday. The negative repercussion led parliamentarians and PL leaders to share criticism on the networks, including montages of the former first lady associated with the PT and accusations of treason.
The episode adds to the crisis that was already emerging within the PL. The previous week, Michelle had released a video reporting a disagreement with her stepson, senator Flávio Bolsonaro, whom she accused of having treated her with disrespect in a telephone call. Flávio publicly apologized hours later. The situation generated division among party parliamentarians and culminated in Michelle's departure from command of PL Mulher.
