The story appeared as a joke in the Flor e Manu videocast, presented by Maria Flor alongside her husband, psychoanalyst Emanuel Aragão, on YouTube. When recalling the time when she attended rave parties and performed juggling, she said that she met a boy who she ended up dating, but soon encountered a habit that was difficult to ignore.
"I juggled at the rave and I even dated a boy. He didn't brush his teeth, and that became a big problem in the relationship," he began. According to the actress, her boyfriend followed his own logic when it came to taking care of his oral health. Convinced that toothpaste was harmful to the body, he swapped brushing for an apple. "When he brushed his teeth, he ate an apple because he believed it played that role. He had a whole theory", he recalled.
The alternative solution, however, did not convince Maria Flor. "That's when I thought: I'm not going to be able to go through with this. That was a milestone," he said, laughing.
Although apples stimulate the production of saliva and help remove part of the residue from the mouth, dentists emphasize that the fruit is far from replacing brushing and flossing, which are essential for preventing cavities, gum disease and bad breath.
