The athlete was located in the East Zone of São Paulo. His mother, Valdirene Ferreira, who had been participating in the searches and issuing requests for information about her son's whereabouts, was notified and attended the reunion.
Daniel had last been seen on June 19, when he left his residence in Paraguaçu Paulista, in the interior of São Paulo.
During the period in which he was missing, family, friends, athletes and members of the Brazilian athletics community mobilized to help in the search. Images and information about the runner were shared on social media in an attempt to locate him.
Daniel Nascimento holds the South American marathon record. In 2022, he won the Seoul Marathon by completing the 42.195 kilometers in 2h04min51s.
The runner also represented Brazil at the Tokyo Olympic Games, held in 2021.
