Senator Jaques Wagner (PT-BA) will not be heard by the Federal Police (PF) this Friday, 7th, in relation to Operation Compliance Zero, which investigates suspicions related to the Master case. The testimony, initially scheduled for this date, was postponed after a request from the parliamentarian's defense.

This is the second hearing canceled in the same week as part of the investigation. Days earlier, the testimony of businessman Augusto Lima, former partner of Daniel Vorcaro, who is among those investigated in the case, was also postponed.

Jaques Wagner was summoned by the Federal Police on July 21 to provide clarification about his relationship with Augusto Lima. According to the defense, the senator "intends to speak", but will only testify after having access to the details of the investigation.

"The request for postponement arises exclusively from the fact that, due to technical problems (all documented), access to the contents of the investigation, requested in the same act in which the date was indicated, almost a month ago, has not yet been made possible for the defense", says the defense, in a note (read more below).

Operation Compliance Zero investigates an alleged billion-dollar financial fraud scheme involving Banco Master, an institution that had its liquidation ordered by the Central Bank in November last year. The investigations seek to clarify the actions of those investigated and the connections established during the period analyzed.

In June, Wagner was the target of search and seizure in the ninth phase of the operation. The PF suspects that Jaques Wagner received a property worth R$2.5 million and bribe payments totaling R$3.5 million through a company linked to one of his family members.

According to investigators, the structure would have been used to hide undue advantages allegedly paid in the context of the frauds investigated at Compliance Zero.

The PF is also investigating whether Jaques Wagner used his parliamentary activities to defend issues of interest to Banco Master in Congress. According to investigators, the senator would have directly approached Augusto Lima with proposals that could benefit the bank controlled by Daniel Vorcaro.

The investigation cites the work of Jaques Wagner in proposals that expanded access to payroll loans for workers in the private sector, retirees and INSS pensioners, as well as beneficiaries of the BPC and federal government social programs. According to the PF, the senator would have participated in discussions related to these measures, considered to be of interest to Banco Master.

The investigators also point to Wagner's role in discussions about changes to the rules of the Credit Guarantee Fund (FGC) and in monitoring the possible purchase of Banco Master by Banco de Brasília (BRB).

At the time of the operation, Jaques Wagner's advisor released a statement stating that he did not act in favor of the Master and that he is at the disposal of the authorities.

"Senator Jaques Wagner's defense informs that he requested, with proportional advance, the postponement of the testimony scheduled for August 7th, a date that had been agreed with the police authority.

The request for postponement arises exclusively from the fact that, due to technical problems (all documented), the defense has not yet been able to access the content of the investigation, requested in the same act in which the date was indicated, almost a month ago.

The senator intends to speak. However, as advised by your defense, you will only do so after knowing what is actually included in the investigation and what is, in fact, being investigated, as this is your right. Only then will you be able to give a truly enlightening statement.

The defense will not make any considerations on the merits until it has this data for analysis.

Salvador, August 7, 2026."
