Influencer dies on honeymoon after accident with former Olympic athlete

Laura had recently married Tilman and was traveling with her husband through the Dolomites region. On June 23, while cycling along a state road near the Sella Pass, she was hit by a car.

The vehicle was driven by former Italian skier Peter Runggaldier, who represented the country at the 1994 and 1998 Winter Olympics. After the case gained repercussion, he published a note on social media, in Italian and German, and asked for respect for his privacy.

"In relation to the serious traffic accident in which I was involved, I ask that you respect my moment of pain and my need for privacy. My thoughts are with all the people involved and their families", he stated.

The former athlete added that he does not intend to give interviews or publicly comment on the episode at this time.

According to Italian media outlets, the force of the impact threw Laura's bicycle onto the asphalt. She suffered serious injuries and had to be resuscitated at the scene by emergency teams.

After the first care, the influencer was transported by helicopter to a hospital in the region. She was later transferred to Germany, where she remained hospitalized for almost three weeks, but did not survive her injuries.

Laura had more than 55 thousand followers on Instagram and mainly shared content related to travel, cycling, mountaineering and outdoor sports.

In a message published on the influencer's profile, the family said goodbye marked by references to her passion for the mountains.

"Laura left for her beloved mountains at sunset. Mountains where the sun always shines, where the best snow and the best routes are found", says an excerpt from the tribute.

Family members also thanked them for the messages of affection received and highlighted the importance that Laura gave to the possibility of sharing her experiences and interests with other people.

"It's really special that Laura has been able to share her passion with so many people, both through this social network and beyond. Until we meet again at the next summit", concluded the publication.
