Friends and family are moved by the mass marking the anniversary of Preta Gil's death

Among the famous people present were Flora Gil -stepmother and wife of Preta Gil's father, Gilberto Gil-, the artist's longtime actress and best friend, Carolina Dieckmann, Murilo Benício, Nanda Costa and Narcisa Tamborindeguy.

Flora Gil, one of the first to arrive at the church, commented on how singer Gilberto Gil dealt with his daughter's death: "He deals with death in his own way", she said. "And Gil was relieved to know that his daughter was no longer suffering the way he saw it. Of course he misses it, but he certainly doesn't miss Preta being sick."

He also said that Preta Gil is resting deservedly, after everything she suffered.

Carolina Dieckmann did not want to talk to the press, stating that she intends to speak, but at another time. Previously, she had already spoken out on social media, saying that, at this moment, she is unable to make any statement about her friend and that the one year anniversary of Preta Gil's death is a very difficult day for her.

The singer's son, Francisco Gil, made a statement via social media. In the publication, he talks about how he always remembers his mother when he needs an answer or when he finds himself lost.

"Today I'm doing a show on an island here in France that's just like you and that you didn't know. So I know I'm taking you to get to know me. We're closer than ever. I love you always", he concludes.

The singer died in New York, due to complications from colorectal cancer. The disease had been diagnosed in January 2023.
