Michele Carnesecca, the young woman's mother, stated that her daughter died by suicide, but asked that her story not be limited to how she lost her life.
"She took her precious life, but she is much more than that. She was an incredible writer and reader since she was little," she told KSL, where Brynn had done a summer internship last year.
The young woman also created the Cartas da Esperança project, an initiative that mobilized volunteers to write messages aimed at people imprisoned in the Utah prison system. The aim was to reduce the loneliness faced by inmates.
Residents of American Fork attended a vigil in Brynn's honor on Thursday (28). Those present wore yellow clothes to remember the former Miss.
The Miss American Fork organization also published a farewell message and highlighted the impact left by the young woman.
"You left an immense legacy for all Miss American Fork who come after you. I have always admired you and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to know you, learn from you and experience the love and encouragement you so generously offered", says an excerpt from the tribute.
The family organized a fundraising campaign to help with funeral costs. To date, around US$28,000, approximately R$142,000, has been donated. The goal is to reach US$40 thousand, approximately R$202 thousand.
"Our family is heartbroken by Brynn's unexpected departure. We want to honor her memory in a way that reflects her spirit and the love she offered to so many people," states the message published in the campaign.
