Flávio Dino authorizes a new PF investigation to investigate Lulinha
Minister Flávio Dino, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), authorized this Tuesday (4) the opening of an investigation against businessman Fábio Luís Lula da Silva, known as Lulinha. He is the son of President Luiz...
Dino accepted the request from the Federal Police (PF) to investigate the alleged actions of a group of people who had illicit dealings with federal government bodies. The details of the investigation are confidential and have not been disclosed.
The minister also decided to open an investigation to investigate the leak of confidential information about the investigations. The measure met the request made by Lulinha's defense. With Dino's decision, three investigations have already been opened against Lulinha in the PF.
The first deals with an investigation into alleged influence peddling that allegedly occurred at the Ministry of Health.
The case involves a company operating in the medical cannabis sector that would be interested in closing contracts with the department. The interested company was linked to businessman Antonio Carlos Camilo Antunes, known as Careca from INSS. The investigation is not related to illegal benefit deductions.
The second investigation investigates alleged illegalities at Dataprev, the state-owned company that centralizes pension data.
Defense
In a statement, lawyers Guilherme Suguimori and Marco Aurélio de Carvalho stated that they received the news of the opening of the new investigation with "absolute serenity". The defenders added that they will have the opportunity to clarify any doubts about Lulinha's personal and professional activities.
"He will prove, in the end, that he has no direct or indirect relationship with any type of irregularity, just as he did in the INSS fraud investigation, in relation to which we hope for a late filing", stated the defense.
The lawyers also stated that they requested "strong measures" against "repeated, selective and criminal leaks".
"We have denounced the instrumentalization of sectors of the Federal Police in the service of political and electoral interests, to the detriment of the impartiality and legality that should govern criminal procedures", they added.
