Tarcísio calls the CPTM strike a 'riot' and defends privatization

"The focus on chaos and paralysis of services will not intimidate the government, which has been and will remain open to dialogue. A concession is made to improve services, eliminate permanent track problems, bring in new trains, guarantee more accessible stations, eliminate failures in the supply airway and substations, extend the lines to Bonsucesso or even César de Souza and give more confidence to the system."

"Today's strike is solely the result of political instrumentalization to harm passengers and law-abiding citizens, who can no longer stand to see precisely those politicians who claim to defend their interests acting to harm their right to come and go."

The statement comes after the governor himself considered unacceptable the failures that occurred in the operation of the lines that had been transferred to the concessionaire Trivia Trens.

Due to the numerous problems, the Metropolitan Train Company (CPTM) resumed operating lines 11-Coral, 12-Safira and 13-Jade and the Aeroporto Express Service for an initial period of up to 90 days. The decision was taken by the state government and the Transport Agency of the State of São Paulo (Artesp) at the end of July. On that occasion, Tarcísio even threatened to break the concession contract if the concessionaire did not comply with the terms of the agreement.

An electrical failure and fire in a carriage on line 12 caused major inconvenience for passengers on the three branches on July 23rd.

What do the strikers ask for?

The employees demand the renationalization of the three lines, which were granted to the private sector, in addition to the guarantee that workers will not be fired after the branches become the responsibility of the TriviaTrens concessionaire.

According to the strikers, 2,300 people are at risk of losing their jobs if the company's workers are not reabsorbed when activities are once again controlled by TriviaTrens.

The employees have defended Bill 730/2025, by federal deputy Guilherme Cortez (PSOL), which precisely authorizes the absorption of CPTM workers on Lines 11 - Coral, 12 - Safira and 13 - Jade by bodies or entities of the State's direct or indirect Public Administration, after the service is carried out by a private company.
