In publications made after the match, the presence of the American president was ignored. FIFA chose a photograph in which the players appear gathered around the cup and Trump practically disappears from the frame. In the images released by the Spanish Federation, Trump does not appear.
Video published on the FIFA website shows the relatively embarrassing scene. After Rodri lifts the trophy, Trump and Infantino walk away and applaud the players, who continue celebrating.

Trump had had a similar attitude at the Club World Cup in 2025: after handing over the championship cup to Chelsea, he did not leave the pulpit until the team lifted the cup - despite some instructions from the FIFA president for them to leave the place.
This was the only game of the national team tournament that the Republican participated in - in the first game, in Los Angeles, Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, represented the White House.
Before, he had been booed when he entered the field to present the cup in the final.
