Fernanda Rodrigues suffers from a toxic husband in a new role and says she wants to promote reflection

In the vertical soap opera, the character will see her relationship collapse amid lies, psychological manipulation and the discovery of a plan devised by her husband (Ricardo Pereira) with his lover.

For the actress, the biggest difference between the two is precisely in the way each relationship is constructed. "Theirs is a toxic relationship. They don't push each other, they don't encourage each other. He diminishes her and belittles what she does and what she says," he tells F5.

Fernanda says that, when comparing fiction with her own life, she sees an absolute contrast. Married for almost 20 years to director Raoni Carneiro, she attributes the longevity of their relationship to companionship and mutual encouragement.

"My marriage was built on listening, partnership and making each other's dreams come true," he says.

The actress believes that the character's story will also help shed light on a problem that, for a long time, went unnoticed within relationships: gaslighting, that is, the form of manipulation that leads the victim to doubt their own perception of reality.

"There are those who are prepared to understand and even free themselves from relationships like this, but there are also those who are not yet. The most important thing is to open this conversation and show that this is much more common than we imagine. Many women suffer from this type of abuse."

Despite never having experienced a relationship similar to that of the character, Fernanda states that she has faced moments when she needed to double her mental health care. The difference is that, in your case, the wear and tear came from overwork.

"I've gone through moments of extreme stress and fatigue to the point where my mental health was affected. I quickly understood that it was the stress and decided to stop. My body never needed to stop me, I stopped before."

She says that today she maintains a self-care routine to avoid reaching that limit again. Hot yoga, physical exercise, good nutrition and adequate sleep are part of the habits that he considers essential to preserve emotional balance.

Known for keeping her personal life away from controversy since she began her career as a child, Fernanda says she has never felt pressure to maintain an image of a "balanced person".

According to her, discretion is part of her personality. "I have always preserved intimacy and my family. From a young age I tried to balance fame with my private life."

After decades at Globo, the actress also claims that she discovered a new professional phase when leaving the network. Although he praises the structure of the company, where he has worked since childhood, he says that seeing opportunities outside that environment has broadened his horizons.

"When I left, I realized that there was a professional life beyond that structure. The most important thing is the characters, whether they are at Globo or anywhere else", he says. His last soap opera on the network was “Fuzuê” (2023).

In recent years, Fernanda also began to divide her routine between Brazil and Portugal, where she recorded a series and develops projects linked to the maternity portal Cheguei ao Mundo.

In addition to acting, she launched into entrepreneurship by becoming a franchisee for a network of studios in the European country. "I reached maturity wanting to get out of my comfort zone. This is a Fernanda that perhaps the public doesn't know yet", he comments.

If your career has entered a phase of discovery, motherhood continues to be the greatest learning experience. Mother of Luisa, 16 years old, Fernanda says that raising a teenager in times of excess information and social media is a daily challenge.

"No one teaches you how to be a mother of a teenager. We talk a lot, exchange a lot of ideas. Mothers need to come together and share experiences", she adds. She is also mother to Bento, 10.
