F1 Hungarian GP: Lando Norris wins the 1st of the year, and Bortoleto is 11th

Max Verstappen was second, and championship leader Kimi Antonelli, who started seventh after being punished in qualifying, came third.

Brazilian Gabriel Bortoleto came in 11th after starting in 14th place. The Audi driver had been making the one-stop tactic work and was in ninth place until he started to suffer from overheating in his rear tires and ended up being overtaken by Liam Lawson and his teammate Nico Hulkenberg, who scored his first points of the year.

Bortoleto did the last laps close to Arvid Lindblad, who was following the same strategy of stopping, but finished less than a second behind the Briton, outside the points zone. Piastri takes the lead at the start and Russell goes last

Oscar Piastri took the lead on the first lap. Starting third, he passed Charles Leclerc in the first few meters and overtook teammate and pole-sitter Lando Norris in the second corner. Right behind, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton had a strong fight, with the Dutchman having an advantage. Leclerc fell from second to fifth and Russell ended up last after starting poorly.

Hamilton put pressure on Verstappen for the entire first part of the race until he stopped, on lap 14. When Verstappen stopped, on the next lap, he went back behind the Ferrari, but made a big overtake on the next lap. Ferrari's performance, however, fell when Hamilton put on the hard tire, and he lost contact with Verstappen. Norris asks for team order and McLaren gives free track

Another change with the hard tire happened among the leaders: Norris was faster, and started to demand a team order, which did not come. Instead, Piastri was called to the pits and this freed Norris to accelerate. They could not risk a dispute between their drivers, as Verstappen was close by and Kimi Antonelli had managed to stop five laps after the leaders and could use a different tactic.

Piastri returned in traffic, coming into contact with Carlos Sainz, who was late and turned as if the Australian wasn't there. Meanwhile, Norris used the free track well and, when he stopped five laps later, he came back ahead of his teammate. At this point, Antonelli was gaining ground by staying on the track longer than his rivals to have fresher tires at the end, and Hamilton had overtaken Verstappen by stopping before the Dutchman Piastri's breakdown changes the fight for the podium

On lap 55, Piastri parked the McLaren in the escape area after a gear failure, which caused the race management to activate the Virtual Safety Car. Fearing suffering with the tires at the end, Ferrari called both drivers to the pits. Verstappen continued on the track and took second position.

Hamilton also came back behind Antonelli, another who didn't stop. To make matters worse, the seven-time champion was punished for exceeding the speed limit in the pits, and had five seconds added to his final time, and also finished behind teammate Charles Leclerc when the penalty was applied.

In the end, Norris won again, with Verstappen in second, Antonelli in third, Leclerc in fourth, Hamilton in fifth, Hadjar in sixth, Russell in seventh and Lawson, Hulkenberg and Lindblad completing the top 10. Formula 1 returns at the end of August, with the Dutch GP.
