European stock markets trade modestly higher on hopes of a ceasefire between the US and Iran

At around 6:35 am, Brasília time, the pan-European Stoxx 600 index advanced 0.40%, at 642.15 points.

Oil remained relatively stable this morning, after reaching its highest levels in a month on Monday. The move comes amid expectations that diplomatic initiatives by mediators will result in a new ceasefire between the United States and Iran, which have exchanged attacks over the last ten nights.

At the same time, the European technology sub-index rose 1.4%. The balance sheets of large technology companies in the United States, including Alphabet, will be monitored this week in search of signs about the viability of billion-dollar investments in artificial intelligence.

The mining sub-index also registered a similar increase, driven by the appreciation of gold and copper.

On the indicator agenda, Germany's ZEW index of economic expectations rose to 26.3 points in July, a result above projections.

At 6:52 am, Brasília time, the London Stock Exchange rose 0.26%, the Paris Stock Exchange rose 0.36% and the Frankfurt Stock Exchange gained 0.42%. The Milan, Madrid and Lisbon markets registered increases of 0.71%, 0.78% and 0.51%, respectively.
