Djokovic is scared, but beats João Fonseca's tormentor and advances to Wimbledon

Djoko had a scare in the first set, but sought a comeback after losing 5-2. He won the match by 3 sets to 1 with scores of 7/6 (8-6), 6/3, 3/6 and 6/3. The match lasted 3 hours and 25 minutes.

HOW WAS THE GAME

First setSafiullin started the game serving and was broken right away. The expectation was that Djokovic would break through in the first set, but the Russian returned the break in the next game and dominated the partial until he went 5-2 up (with another break over the Serbian).

The problem is that on the other side was Novak Djokovic, owner of 24 Grand Slam singles titles. The Serbian returned the break when he was trailing 5-3, forced a tie-break and won the first set.

Second set Safiullin had difficulty winning points on his first serve (15/25, just 60% success), and Djokovic took the opportunity to impose himself. The Serb managed to win 32% of points received, made fewer mistakes (8 against 10) and had more winning balls 8 against 6). Victory in the set by 6 to 3.

Third set Safiullin opened the third set by confirming his serve and breaking Djoko afterwards. With 2-0 against, the Serb slowed down his game and saw the Russian become more aggressive. Roman Safiullin broke Djokovic again, and managed to win 6-3.

Fourth setIn the fourth set it was Djokovic's turn to take a 2-0 lead straight away, breaking Safiullin's serve.

When it came to the decision, Djoko didn't give any gaps. The statistics show Djoko's superiority in the set: 14 against 9 winning balls, 31 against 21 total points and 6 against 7 unforced errors. Win by a new 6/3.
