According to the Public Security Secretariat of the State of São Paulo (SSP-SP), the Porsche caught fire after the crash and, when the Military Police arrived at the scene, the car was already engulfed in flames. The Fire Department was called to respond to the incident. The two bodies were located inside the vehicle.
The victims are Arthur Rodrigues, who was recognized by his father, and Lívia Bevilacqua. According to SSP-SP, the young man's father confirmed to the police that the Porsche belonged to his son.
To EPTV, a TV Globo affiliate in the Metropolitan Region of Campinas, a resident of the region said that two motorcyclists reported to her, shortly after the accident, that the person driving the Porsche swerved around them both to avoid a collision, but ended up losing control of the car and crashing into the tree.
The circumstances of the accident are being investigated. The case was registered as "shock, fire and suspicious death - accidental death" on duty at the 1st DP of Campinas and, later, passed on to the 5th Police District of Campinas.
According to the police, DNA tests are still being carried out to identify Lívia's body. Her sister, Bianca Bevilacqua, published a message on social media in honor of the young woman.
"I only ask for prayers so that God and Our Lady receive my sister with open arms in heaven. I will love you for all my life and for any other life that exists, Lívia. What an immeasurable pain. Mom, dad... I'm with you (sic)", Bianca wrote.
In another post, the sister stated that Lívia was "good with animals" and careful with her niece. In a tone of outburst, he also asked the victim for forgiveness and said that he "shouldn't have" "let her get into that car."
A student at São Leopoldo Mandic University, in Campinas, Artur's death was mourned by the educational institution.
"It is with deep sadness that we receive the news of Arthur Rodrigues' passing. In this moment of pain, we join in solidarity with his family, friends and everyone who had the privilege of sharing his journey," said the university.
The university's Medicine Athletic Association also used social media to say goodbye to student Arthur.
"With the deepest regret, the Academic Athletic Association of Medicine XIII de Maio expresses its most sincere sympathies to the family of student Arthur Rodrigues, known as Vidigal, on his passing. At this time, we offer solidarity and wish strength to all family and friends," the entity posted.
