In their messages, colleagues highlighted the talent, good humor and influence of the artist over more than five decades of her career.
Actress Catherine Zeta-Jones was one of the first to speak out. She recalled her family relationship with Bonnie, who was married to her cousin, and said she was “heartbroken”. The Hollywood star described the singer as an "extraordinary woman", owner of a unique voice and an unforgettable sense of humor.
Presenter Carol Vorderman also highlighted the artist's importance for Wales and for a generation of women. According to her, Bonnie represented a strong and authentic figure, who "made no apologies for who she was." Vorderman also stated that the singer was always welcoming, curious and very loved by those who lived with her.
Guitarist Alex Skolnick recalled the period in which he worked alongside the British singer in a show dedicated to composer Jim Steinman. He said Bonnie was adorable, fun and approachable, even though she was a music legend, and wished her to rest in peace.
Cliff Richard said he was shocked by the news and defined the singer as "a great friend", remembering that her enthusiasm for life won her fans around the world.
Bryan Adams also paid tribute to the artist. The singer stated that Bonnie had an incredible voice and said he would always be grateful for her rendition of his song "Straight From the Heart".
The family confirmed Bonnie Tyler's death in a post on the artist's social media. She had been hospitalized since the beginning of May in a hospital in Faro, in the south of Portugal, after undergoing emergency bowel surgery.
The singer was placed in an induced coma, woke up in June, but remained in serious condition in the ICU until she died on Wednesday night (8). The family reported that she died as a result of the illness she had been treating for the last few months.
