The screenwriter is also the creator of the series "The Dropout", which won an Emmy for Amanda Seyfried, and co-creator of the miniseries "Dying for Sex".
The film will be directed by Jon M. Chu (Wicked) and produced by Marc Platt (Legally Blonde). The story will be based on the biography of the pop princess, "The Woman in Me", which recounts the life of the "Toxic" singer, chronicling her rise to fame, her dalliances with celebrities and her breakdown, which led her to be tutored by her father for years.
The book, written by Britney and released in October 2023, was a sales success, releasing more than 1 million copies in the United States in its first week on shelves. The audio version was narrated by actress Michelle Williams (The Fabelmans).
The news of taking the story to the cinema was released in August 2024, when Universal Pictures secured the production rights to the biography.
