According to delegate Luana Medeiros, responsible for the case, the boy suffered a sinking skull, displacement of the heart and a complete fracture of the femur as a result of the violence.
The information was reported by one of the doctors who treated the child and gave a statement to the police.
“The doctor explained to us that the boy's heart changed location due to the beating being so strong, and that his femur was completely fractured,” said the delegate.
According to the Civil Police, the extent of the injuries does not correspond to the version presented by the father, the North American missionary Dandre Jermaine Grayson, aged 33.
In testimony, he stated that he attacked his son after the child did not wish him “good morning”. The man said he punched the boy in the chest and abdomen, in addition to hitting his head against the floor.
For the medical team, however, the injuries indicate that the attacks were much more intense than those admitted by the investigator.
The crime occurred on Sunday (5), in the district of Águas Claras, in Viamão. After the beating, the father himself took the child to the city hospital. Upon noticing the multiple injuries, the medical team called the Military Police, who arrested the man red-handed.
Oliver was transferred to Porto Alegre due to the severity of his condition, but he did not survive.
The father's arrest in the act was converted into preventative arrest. The child's mother is also arrested.
The Civil Police investigates crimes of double homicide, torture and omission.
