According to the investigation, Miranda would have acted as an intermediary between the owner of Banco Master, Daniel Vorcaro, and influencers mobilized against the Central Bank after the institution's liquidation. The defense denies any illegality.
The publicist was also responsible for introducing Vorcaro to senator and presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), at the end of 2024. According to the investigation, he directly participated in intermediating the banker's payments to a fund in the United States, which would be used to sponsor a film about the trajectory of former president Jair Bolsonaro.
Messages found by the Federal Police on Miranda's cell phone, revealed in May by the website Intercept Brasil and confirmed by Estadão, indicate that the publicist arranged meetings between Flávio Bolsonaro and Vorcaro, in addition to charging the businessman for late payments.
These dialogues were already under analysis by the PF through the cell phone seized from Vorcaro.
According to people close to Miranda, he already had a long-term relationship with Flávio Bolsonaro. To the Federal Police, the publicist stated that he had met Vorcaro more recently, through a businessman from Minas Gerais, during negotiations involving the sale of a stake in the Leo Dias portal, of which he was a partner.
What Thiago Miranda's defense says In a note signed by lawyer Rafael Martins, Thiago Miranda's defense denied committing any illegality.
"Regarding the facts widely publicized today, Thiago Miranda's defense publicly refutes, categorically, the practice of any illegality by his constituent.
Thiago Miranda has always guided his professional activities towards legality, transparency, respect for institutions and the free exercise of freedom of expression, having not committed any criminal act, nor participated in conduct intended to intimidate, coerce, embarrass or violate the rights of third parties.
The defense clarifies that the existence of an ongoing investigation does not authorize any early judgment of guilt, and the constitutional guarantees of due legal process, full defense, adversarial proceedings and, above all, the presumption of innocence, must be strictly preserved.
Thiago Miranda is entirely at the disposal of the competent authorities to provide all necessary clarifications, collaborate with the investigation of the facts and demonstrate, in the appropriate forum, the absolute regularity of his conduct.
Finally, it informs that the defense will closely monitor all acts of the procedure and will adopt the appropriate legal measures to ensure that the facts are investigated with balance, technique and respect for legal guarantees, avoiding hasty conclusions or interpretations incompatible with reality.”
