WhatsApp began to restore access to users who had their accounts unduly blocked on Monday (3). This Tuesday (4), however, new complaints about slowness and failures in sending and receiving messages were registered, indicating that the application still faces occasional instabilities.

The first problem affected people from different countries. Without warning, users encountered a message stating that their accounts were under review and that profile activity and device data would be checked to confirm compliance with the Terms of Service.

During the procedure, all application functions were unavailable. The notice indicated that the result of the analysis would normally be communicated within 24 hours. Reports published on social media even came from people who claimed to only use the official version of WhatsApp and did not know the reason for the restriction.

Contacted by the website TechCrunch, Meta acknowledged that some accounts had been flagged in error. The company reported that its systems seek to identify suspicious activity and prevent abuse, but admitted that errors may occur during this process. Measures have been adopted to restore access to affected users.

The company did not disclose how many accounts were blocked, which countries concentrated the largest number of cases or what led the security systems to start analyzes simultaneously.

While some users recovered their profiles, other difficulties began to be reported this Tuesday. The main complaints involved slowness and problems sending texts, photos, videos and audios, as well as errors in the cell phone application and the Web version.

Meta has not yet said whether the reports of instability registered this Tuesday are related to the failure that caused the undue account blocking on Monday. The company also did not disclose a deadline for the complete normalization of the service.
