The September negotiations, reported by Reuters for the first time on Tuesday, would be led, on the US side, by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, according to four of the sources. The identities of the remaining US and Chinese participants, as well as the agenda and location of the discussions, are still being deliberated as preparations are at an early stage, three of the sources said. The White House, US State Department and US Treasury Department did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment. China's National Development and Reform Commission, cyberspace regulator, industry and foreign ministries and State Council did not immediately respond to faxed requests for comment.
