Apple may introduce first smart glasses in 2027

The information was released by journalist Mark Gurman, from Bloomberg. According to him, the device is known internally by the code N50 and was even planned for launch this year.

The company, however, reportedly delayed the debut due to privacy concerns. The additional time would allow Apple to improve the product and fine-tune the experience before making it available globally.

Smart glasses appear among the company's possible future launches, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and the brand's long-awaited first foldable cell phone.

Until the new product arrives, Apple should continue investing in the wearable devices segment. For this year, the company is expected to present the Apple Watch Series 12 and the Apple Watch Ultra 4.

Concern about privacy is not exclusive to Apple. Currently available smart glasses face criticism due to the possibility of recording people discreetly and without consent.

Meta, responsible for glasses developed in partnership with Ray-Ban, announced measures to combat this type of content on Instagram. The platform must remove videos considered forms of harassment or that expose people filmed without authorization.

The person responsible for Instagram, Adam Mosseri, stated that content produced with the aim of embarrassing or harassing third parties will be removed from the social network. He also said that the company does not want users to secretly record other people and publish the images on the platform.

Meta Ray-Bans have received criticism especially for videos in which men record interactions with women who do not know they are being filmed. The popularity of this type of content provoked reactions against the devices and placed Meta at the center of the privacy debate.
