Crisis in public transport: Passengers again complain about bus delays Despite the judicial release of the bus fleet seized at the end of June, five of the 48 lines are still not operating this Monday (20), in Rio Branco. Previously, the number of buses in circulation on weekdays was 39. ?Context: The expansion of the fleet occurs after a court decision that authorized the return of 50 buses seized on June 30th during a contractual dispute between private companies. The reduction in the number of buses caused overcrowding, increased passenger waiting times and led to the suspension of undergraduate classes at the Federal University of Acre (Ufac). "When I arrived at BR I couldn't board the buses, because there wasn't enough space for the population, a lot of people, and we need more. [...] Especially those of us who depend on buses, those of us who are domestic workers, spend the whole day working on our feet, we certainly need better comfort," he said. For her, the return symbolizes progress in getting around the city. “Today at least there was a bus to my neighborhood, thank God. I'm happier, more calm, but we need more, more improvement, both on the buses and in the neighborhoods", she said. She says that she waited a long time to be able to catch a bus. "It has improved a lot, a lot, it was very difficult, not many buses, we expected a lot, but now thank God it has improved a lot. And the idea is that it will improve more for us, the users", he commented. Judicial decision The release of part of the fleet was authorized by judge Julio Roberto dos Reis, of the 25th Civil Court of Brasília, and was taken in the process that deals with a repossession action involving the vehicles used by the company Ricco Transportes e Turismo. The city hall states that the suitable buses will immediately return to operation. To obtain the release, the municipality informed that it filed the process through the Attorney General's Office of Municipality (PGM) and made a judicial deposit of more than R$2.8 million. According to the city hall, the amount was deposited following a request from Ricco.
