Wind causes trees to fall and destroys house in Nova Friburgo

The strong wind that hit Nova Friburgo, in the Serrana region of Rio, this Wednesday (29), with gusts of up to 64.4 km/h, caused trees to fall, houses torn apart and mobilized Civil Defense teams, who continued working this Thursday (30). According to the agency, up to 9pm five incidents were recorded in the city. There are no reports of injuries. According to Civil Defense, four incidents of falling trees were recorded by 9pm. Two of them took place in Benfica, in the district of Lumiar, and another in Barroso, in Amparo. The teams continue to survey other affected points. ? So far, there are no reports of injuries. Another incident was in the Nova Suiça neighborhood.

According to the Instituto Friburgo Solidário weather station, installed at Pico da Caledônia, wind gusts reached 64.4 km/h. The National Center for Natural Disaster Monitoring and Alerts (Cemaden) classified the event as strong to very strong intensity. Civil Defense reported that it continues to monitor the situation and advises the population to avoid risk areas in case of new occurrences. The agency also asks that emergency situations be communicated through official channels.
