In addition to serving the Italian community, the Vice-Consulate also seeks to strengthen relations between Rondônia and Italy. According to Claudio Guastella, the state's potential opens up space for new partnerships and business opportunities. "The strengthening of institutional ties aims to identify business opportunities, especially in the agribusiness, sustainability and environmental preservation technology sectors", he explained. The Italian community is present in the capital and in interior municipalities. Groups and institutions help keep cultural and religious traditions alive through social events and actions. Among them are the Casa Família Roseta Association, the São Thiago Maior Association and the Marceline Sisters. "The representation acts as a bridge to celebrate Italian culture. A striking example of this was the recent historical celebration of the 150 years of Italian immigration in Brazil, promoting events that rescue the memory, gastronomy, language and traditions that the colonists from the south brought to the Amazon", he said. In addition to strengthening ties with the Italian community, the Vice-Consulate offers services such as: assistance to Italian citizens and descendants; proof of life for retirees in Italy; guidance on issuing passports and other documents; mediation between the Italian community and local authorities. According to Claudio Guastella, Porto Velho was chosen to host the Vice-Consulate because it is the capital of Rondônia and one of the main economic hubs in the Western Amazon. The expectation now is to expand service and strengthen the Italian diplomatic presence in the North region. "The main focus is the consolidation of local service and the expansion of bureaucracy in services for citizens. The recent historic visit of the Italian Ambassador to Brazil, Alessandro Cortese, together with the Consul General, Domenico Fornara, reinforces the commitment to expand the Italian diplomatic presence in the northern region and plan new long-term partnerships", he informed.
