In one of the videos, a companion reports that water was running down the lamp and sockets in the room and states that, until that moment, no one responsible had arrived at the scene. "Water is coming down the light fixture, through the sockets. The heart patients are all on top of each other and no one in charge of the hospital has appeared yet," he said. In another record, the same companion complains again about the delay in responding to the incident. "Neither management, nor maintenance, nor the hospital's security technician, nor the hospital's civil firefighter. The patients are all still together and the leak continues", he stated. The images had repercussions on social media and reignited the debate about the structural conditions of the Raul Sertã Hospital, the main public health unit in Nova Friburgo and a reference for medium and high complexity care in the Central-North Fluminense Region. What the City Hall says In a statement, the Nova Friburgo City Council reported that the leak was caused during the cleaning procedure of the unit's water tank, carried out by a contracted company. According to the municipality, during the emptying of the water tank, the water was inappropriately directed onto the building's slab, instead of being channeled to the drainage system. The failure caused infiltration in one of the rooms in the cardiology ward. The municipal administration reported that the incident affected only one hospital room and that the patients were immediately relocated to another environment, without compromising care. According to City Hall, there were no reports of injuries or incidents involving patients, companions or healthcare professionals. The hospital management stated that the technical team isolated the affected area and maintained the operation of the cardiology ward without interruptions. The municipality also informed that it has notified the company responsible for the service and will launch an administrative investigation to verify the circumstances of what happened and the possible responsibility of the contractor. Evaluation system starts this Saturday One day after the incident, the City Hall intends to put into operation a system for patients and companions to evaluate the service and structure of the municipal hospitals Raul Sertã and Maternidade Mário Dutra de Castro. According to the Municipal Health Department, starting this Saturday (1st), QR Codes made available in units will give access to a form in which users can assign grades from 1 to 10 for criteria such as waiting time, reception, medical care, in addition to recording comments and suggestions. According to the City Hall, the evaluations will be continuously monitored and will serve as a basis for identifying opportunities for improvement in the services provided.
