She reported having suffered a miscarriage and that the fetus had flushed down the toilet. But the circumstances narrated and the estimate of approximately 37 weeks of gestation presented inconsistencies that led to the opening of the police investigation. The police then began carrying out investigative measures, including interviews with witnesses and family members, in addition to collecting information and providing legal representation via search and seizure warrant. While complying with the court order, agents located the fetus buried at the back of the residence, confirming, according to the police, that it had not been discarded in the manner initially reported. After the fetus was found, the two women, who are sisters, were taken to the police station and arrested for the crime of concealing a corpse.
