Municipal education in Taubaté showed progress in the initial and final years of Elementary School, according to data from Ideb (Basic Education Development Index) for 2025, released by the MEC (Ministry of Education) this Wednesday (5). In the initial years, the Municipal Education System achieved a score *6.4*, above the rates recorded in 2023, when the municipality obtained 6.1, and in 2021, when the score was 5.9. In the final years, Taubaté rose to *5.3*, also surpassing the previous result, of 5.1, recorded in 2023. With the results, Taubaté was above the national public network average. In Brazil, the Ideb in the initial years of Elementary School was 6.1, while in the final years the indicator was 5.0. Ideb is one of the main indicators for evaluating basic education in the country. The index combines students' performance in Portuguese Language and Mathematics in the Saeb (Basic Education Assessment System) with the approval rates determined by the School Census. Ideb and Saeb data are calculated by the MEC, through Inep (National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira), and help to monitor the evolution of learning and school flow in education networks.
