The corporation highlighted that the illegal practice of releasing balloons puts the population at risk and can cause fires in properties, vegetation areas and the electrical grid. Recently, a balloon fell in the Bonfim region, in Petrópolis, and caused a large fire. According to the Military Police, the seven men, aged between 35 and 78, are suspected of involvement in the manufacture, transport and release of balloons. They were taken to the 105th DP (Retiro), where they were caught red-handed.
