Macaé City Hall begins planting native vegetation with the help of students Mauricio Porão - Communication The Macaé Department of Environment, Sustainability and Climate (Semas) began planting native species in Praia do Pecado, continuing the "Restinga Boa, é Restinga Nativa" project. The initiative complies with the guidelines of federal legislation for the recovery of this ecosystem and is expected to plant 10,000 new seedlings throughout this semester on the municipality's seafront. The first stage of planting was supported by the Municipal Department of Public Services and supervised by the Semas Environmental Education team. On the occasion, students from the Áttila De Aguiar Maltez Júnior Municipal School of Early Childhood Education, located in the Cajueiros neighborhood, participated directly in the ecological action. With the help of the students, 73 seedlings of the Blutaparon species and 24 of Gururiri were planted. Joint work with public service teams resulted in the introduction of over 650 Blutaparons and 350 specimens of Ipomoea pes-caprae, a species popularly known as beach parsley. Two days after the opening of work, the restinga received a reinforcement of another 500 Blutaparons and 800 Ipomoea pes-caprae. Planting actions are accompanied by strong environmental education work aimed at new generations. The inclusion of children in field activities works as a pedagogical tool to raise community awareness about the biological relevance of beach vegetation and the need for collective care, encouraging the preservation of a natural heritage that belongs to the entire society.
