Quarto Centenário has councilors revoked after TRE decision The mandates of two councilors were revoked in Quarto Centenário, in the Center-West of Paraná. The decision was made by the Regional Electoral Court (TRE), which understood that the Progressive Party (PP), of which the councilors are affiliated, defrauded the gender quota in the 2024 municipal elections. With the sentence, all votes obtained by the party were annulled. For this reason, Camila Medeiros Carlucci and Valdir Alves de Oliveira had their warrants revoked, and the votes that all the party's substitutes received in the election were also invalidated. ? Follow the g1 Maringá e Região channel on WhatsApp The case came to light after it was discovered that Magaly Maria da Silva Machado's candidacy was used to circumvent the quota. Investigations showed that she did not receive any votes, not even her own. In the decision, the Electoral Court determined that Magaly would be ineligible for eight years, for having contributed to the fraud. Councilors Camila Medeiros Carlucci and Valdir Alves de Oliveira had their warrants revoked in Quarto Centenário. Reproduction/Quarter Centenary Chamber of Councilors Camila and Valdir's defense informed that they disagreed with the decision and reinforced that the first instance sentence had considered the action unfounded due to lack of evidence. The lawyers also said that there was no proof of fraud and that the decision will be challenged with an appeal at the higher levels of the Electoral Court. The defense also said that it trusts in the reversal of the judgment and the maintenance of the councilors' mandates. The same lawyers are working in Magaly's defense, but did not want to comment on her case. In a note to g1, the PP said it is appealing the decision. See the full note below: "Progressistas states that it is appealing the decision. Councilwoman Camila Medeiros Carlucci was the most voted in the city, with almost 11% of the total votes. Under the pretext of protecting female participation in politics, the decision revoked the mandate of the female candidate with the most votes in the municipality. The party trusts in the review of the decision in accordance with the current jurisprudence of the Superior Electoral Court", said the party. Action was dismissed, but appeal analysis condemned the party. The party's conviction was decided during a trial session on Wednesday (22). In it, the Court of the Regional Electoral Court analyzed an appeal against the sentence that had dismissed the action as unfounded. With the new analysis, the Court recognized, by unanimous vote, the fraud in the gender quota, due to the party having failed to comply with the electoral law, of having a minimum quota of 30% of female candidates. In the analysis, the court also recognized that Magaly's candidacy was fictitious and used to circumvent the quota. "The collegial decision determined the revocation of the Demonstrative of Regularity of Party Acts (DRAP) of the Progressistas Party – PP of Quarto Centenário/PR and determined the nullity of all votes attributed to the party, the retotalization of the electoral and party quotients and, if necessary, the redistribution of seats in accordance with art. 224 of the Electoral Code", informed the TRE. The date for the retotaling of votes will be defined by the Electoral Court.
