Knives allegedly used in the death of a child in Amazonas were seized. Disclosure/PC-AM The Civil Police of Amazonas (PC-AM) concluded the investigation into the death of Raelyson da Silva, aged 6, and changed the charge against the boy's father from intentional homicide to ill-treatment resulting in death. The procedure was forwarded to the Judiciary and the Public Ministry this Saturday (1st). The crime occurred on July 18, in the municipality of Itapiranga, in the interior of the state, and the person being investigated, Reulist Valente Miranda, aged 24, remains in prison. According to the head of the 38th Interactive Police Station (DIP), delegate Aldiney Nogueira, the reclassification occurred after detailed analysis of statements, videos and other evidence gathered throughout the investigations. "Our conclusion was that the crime of qualified intentional homicide did not occur, a crime for which he was charged on the day of his arrest in the act. The investigations, the entire context, video analysis and testimonies allowed us to conclude that the crime committed was ill-treatment, but in its form qualified by the result of death", stated the delegate. ? The man threw a backpack at his son that contained two knives, tools that had been used on a fishing trip the day before. One of the blades pierced the boy's back. The Civil Police ruled out the hypothesis of manslaughter (when there is no intention to kill), maintaining that the conduct was part of a violent context of excessive correction. "We understand that the crime took place in a context of ill-treatment. The father, who had the duty to protect and ensure the physical integrity of his son, ended up being the perpetrator of the death by exaggerating the means of correction. He was completely reckless in keeping the knives inside the backpack", highlighted Aldiney Nogueira. Due to the severity of the injury, the medical team called the Military Police. Initially, Reulist told police that his son had accidentally fallen onto a knife. Later, in a statement to the Civil Police, he admitted to having thrown the backpack to punish the boy for disobedience, claiming that he did not remember that the fishing knives were stored in the bag. During a custody hearing held on July 19, the court converted Reulist's arrest into preventive detention. At the time, it was found that the suspect was under the influence of alcohol and other substances at the time of the incident. With the conclusion of the investigation sent by the 38th DIP, the Public Ministry of Amazonas (MPAM) will analyze the evidence presented to decide whether to file a formal complaint with the Court under the new legal framework.
