'Bezerrão': man drinks 3.7 liters of milk in less than five minutes and wins contest A resident of Areias, in the interior of São Paulo, became the city's new “Bezerrão” after winning a traditional Dairy Tournament contest this Saturday (1st). To win the title, Carlos Eduardo Ferreira da Silva, aged 27, needed to drink 3.7 liters of milk in around four minutes. The dispute was held during the 39th Areias Dairy Tournament. The challenge was part of the party's program, which also featured milking competitions, shows and activities aimed at the public. Carlos Eduardo is a resident of Areias and says he has always attended the event, but this was the first time he decided to participate in the Bezerrão competition. According to him, the idea came about as an attempt to earn extra income. "I'm unemployed and I saw in this competition that I could raise a little money. I thought I would get third place, something like that, but I stayed focused and ended up winning", he told g1. Despite the challenge, the winner states that he did not do any type of training before the competition. "I never even drank half a bottle of water or milk. It was right there, when I overcame it", he said. On the day of the dispute, he only had a black coffee in the morning. Participants had five minutes to consume the milk. Carlos managed to drink 3.7 liters in approximately four minutes and decided to stop when he realized he couldn't continue. "I was focused, a little nervous. There were some people who took it first and I didn't even keep their score. I just took as much as I could and asked to stop", he said. First place earned the resident a prize of R$400, in addition to the trophy, which he intends to keep with care. "The trophy is on the shelf. And with the money it helped me a lot. Just yesterday at the party I managed to eat, drink a few things and I have some bills to pay", he said. Carlos started receiving messages being called “Bezerrão”, the traditional nickname for those who win the competition. He says he faces fame with good humor. "I'm a calm person, I like to play, I don't like fuss. I take everything in love", he stated. In addition to the achievement, the victory had a special meaning: Carlos turned 27 this Sunday (2), the day after the competition. “The early gift came,” he joked. For Carlos, the competition represents one of the traditions that help to move the city and enhance the culture of the interior. "It's a typical festival here, it always has been, it brings a lot of income to the city and cheers up the people. People from the interior like forró, they like country music", he said. The resident also defends that the competition continues in the coming years. "It's a tradition in the city. Thank God it's still happening, I hope it continues," he said.
