In a statement to the police, the father who kicked his 3-year-old daughter said that the girl was screaming. Personal trainer José Luiz, who witnessed the moment when a father kicked his own 3-year-old daughter in the face in Francisco Beltrão (PR), states that he was also threatened by the attacker when trying to prevent further attacks. Owner of a gym located opposite where the incident took place, he said he saw the violence while the family was returning home and decided to intervene. "I caught him doing that nonsense. He threatened me saying: 'Keep to yourself, because it's not up to you and it's going to be up to you'", he reported. According to José Luiz, the girl's reaction after the kick was one of the most memorable scenes. "I looked at her... She had her little arm raised up, looking at her father, half asking herself: 'Dad, why did you do this to me?'", he said. He was the one who spoke to residents of the region until he located a recording that clearly showed the moment of violence. "I spoke to the owner of that residence and it was there that we got the perfect image. Without a shadow of a doubt, we knew who the boy was," he said. The images spread across social media and reached the police, who interviewed witnesses and family members and requested the 31-year-old father's preventive arrest. "I lost my mind and ended up doing what I shouldn't have done. It wasn't intentional, because I would never hurt my daughter," he declared. The girl was hit by a kick in the face and fell to the ground. Her 5-year-old brother witnessed the entire scene and, according to the witness, was paralyzed and scared. Police investigate other episodes of violence In addition to the case recorded by cameras, the Civil Police are investigating at least two other reports of violence against children. According to reports from family members, the father allegedly attacked his 5-year-old son with a stick, hitting the child's face. There are also reports of punishments considered cruel, such as forcing the two children to kneel on beans and PET bottle caps. Given the evidence, investigators are even evaluating whether the case can be classified as torture, due to the physical and psychological suffering imposed on the victims. The children's mother requested a protective measure and informed the police that she intends to separate from her husband. She said she was shaken and said she had never seen this type of behavior before. The father remains in prison and, to date, has not hired a lawyer.
