Parish of the Holy Family of Iracema belongs to the Ukrainian Catholic Byzantine Rite, in the city of Itaiópolis City Hall of Itaiópolis/Disclosure A state law recognized the influence of Ukraine in the historical formation of the city of Itaiópolis, in the North of Santa Catarina. Previously recognized as Santa Catarina's capital of Polish culture, it now also adds Ukrainian to the municipality's adjectival name. ?Click and follow the g1 SC channel on WhatsApp Recognition came through state law number 20.017/2026, published on Friday (17). The text modifies the Santa Catarina norm 16.722/2015, which precisely deals with the adjective denominations of the municipalities of Santa Catarina. The change was proposed by the municipality, considering the representation of Ukrainian culture in the historical, cultural and religious formation of the municipality. With the change, Itaiópolis is now the Santa Catarina capital of Polish and Ukrainian culture. The new name officially recognizes the significant contribution of the Polish and Ukrainian communities to the city's identity.

Among the highlights of the Ukrainian presence in Itaiópolis are: the first Ukrainian rite church of Santa Catarina, built in 1895; churches of Byzantine architecture; the Ukrainian Traditions Space, folklore groups; the Slavic Circuit of Faith; the Penitential Pilgrimage; customs transmitted between generations. Polish culture also remains one of the main landmarks in the city's history, reflected in the architecture, religiosity, gastronomy, language and other cultural manifestations that consolidated Itaiópolis as one of the main references of Slavic immigration in Santa Catarina.
