Six deaths from dengue were also confirmed in the same period. The data are from the epidemiological bulletin released this Friday (10) by the State Department of Health of Paraíba (SES-PB). According to the bulletin, of the more than 4,000 probable cases of arboviruses, 4,292 are dengue, 138 are chikungunya and three are zika. The bulletin also points out that another ten deaths remain under investigation, and that Paraíba remains without confirmed cases of Oropouche fever in 2026. Although the numbers require attention, the SES states that there was a reduction compared to the same period in 2025. However, the recent growth in notifications requires continued prevention against the Aedes aegypti mosquito. “In the last five epidemiological weeks we have observed a significant increase in notifications, in a period considered atypical, possibly influenced by climate change, which reinforces the need to maintain prevention and surveillance measures throughout the state”, highlighted the technician responsible for Arbovirus Surveillance at SES-PB, Carla Jaciara. The secretariat advises that the population maintain preventive care and immediately seek health services at the first symptoms of the disease, as early diagnosis is essential to reduce the risk of death from arboviruses.
