The priority continues to be the immunization of the elderly, pregnant women and children, people who are part of the national vaccination calendar and are at greater risk for complications caused by influenza. SES informed that the guidance is that municipalities maintain sufficient stocks to guarantee the vaccination of these priority groups throughout the year. In Paraíba, more than 1.3 million doses were distributed to 223 municipalities in Paraíba this year. Of this total, approximately 765 thousand doses were applied to priority groups, resulting in vaccination coverage of 49%, a percentage still below the 90% target established by the Ministry of Health for the elderly, children and pregnant women.
