SÃO PAULO, SP (FOLHAPRESS) - Former federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL) once again raised suspicions about the integrity of the Brazilian electoral system this Thursday afternoon (23), two days after his brother, senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL), cited false information about electronic voting machines in a meeting with ambassadors in Brasília.

Eduardo did a live broadcast with Argentine political consultant Fernando Cerimedo, who participated in President Javier Milei's campaign. The Argentine president will be at the convention that will confirm Flávio's candidacy on Saturday (25).

After President Lula's (PT) victory in the second round of the 2022 elections, Cerimedo made live streams and published posts stating that the Brazilian elections had been rigged - his accusations were refuted by experts who analyzed the data.

The Argentine was indicted by the Federal Police in the coup investigation, but was left out of the complaint by the Attorney General's Office.

"This broadcast is very important, it will touch on a sensitive topic that I'm sure many people in Brazil are afraid to even talk about because it was purposely criminalized, like those bites a few years ago", said Eduardo.

The two spoke for about an hour and once again raised previously discarded suspicions about the reliability of electronic voting machines. They also spoke about the most recent accusations of fraud made by American President Donald Trump just months before the midterm elections in the United States. The Republican never accepted his defeat to Democrat Joe Biden in 2020.

Eduardo read a slideshow, and the first one said: "The end of the conspiracy theory. Questioning the integrity of electronic voting machines controlled by private suppliers stopped being denialism and became a serious national security vulnerability documented by the CIA."

Bolsonaro's son 03 said that the final report of the Army commission that analyzed the ballot boxes did not exempt them from vulnerability. "It is impossible to audit Brazilian electronic voting machines. More resources are needed so that there can be an investigation and audit itself. [...] That is why it generated revolt and, ultimately, generated January 8, 2023 in Brazil."

Sentenced last month by the STF (Supreme Federal Court) to 4 years and 2 months in prison for the crime of coercion during the process, Eduardo obtained a permanent residence permit to live in the United States, where he went into self-exile

On Tuesday, Flávio Bolsonaro stated that Brazilian electronic voting machines have the same origin as voting machines from the Venezuelan company Smartmatic, which is false. He said that, according to a CIA report released last week, the company was involved in a plan to defraud the Venezuelan government in the 2012 elections.

According to a report by the American newspaper The New York Times, the CIA stated in its analysis that there is no evidence that electronic voting machine technology in Venezuela has been used to promote large-scale electronic fraud, and determined that the Venezuelan government does not have the ability to rig elections in other countries.

"Neither Smartmatic nor the Venezuelan government had the capacity to manipulate the outcome of an election outside of Venezuela," the analysis said, according to the Times.

At the same event, Flávio asked all countries to send "as many observers as possible to our elections", as well as "people who have knowledge about this technology".

Elections in Brazil are already the subject of observation by foreign technical institutions, recognized for their independence and professionalism. In 2022, for example, the OAS (Organization of American States), which has promoted missions of this type since 1962, and the American NGO The Carter Center, which has been operating since 1989, certified the regularity of the election.
