Mutirão in Manaus offers DNA tests and free legal assistance; see how to schedule an appointment Photo: Divulgação/Arquivo/DPE-AM Residents of Manaus will be able to schedule, starting next Wednesday (14), free legal services in the Family area offered by the Public Defender's Office of the State of Amazonas (DPE-AM). In total, 350 vacancies will be made available for services such as alimony, custody, cohabitation regulations, guardianship and recognition of paternity. The services will be held on August 1st, during D-Day of the "Meu Pai Tem Nome" campaign, at the administrative headquarters of the Public Defender's Office, at Avenida André Araújo, nº 679, Aleixo neighborhood, Central-South Zone of the capital. Appointments are exclusive to the capital and can be made until vacancies are filled by calling (92) 3198-1200 or via WhatsApp (92) 98159-1599. ? Join the g1 AM channel on WhatsApp The campaign is part of a national mobilization promoted by the National Council of Public Defenders (Condege), in partnership with Public Defenders across the country. The initiative seeks to guarantee free recognition of paternity and maternity, in addition to offering DNA tests and other services related to Family Law.

According to the public defender and coordinator of the campaign in Amazonas, Petra Sofia, the action brings together different demands from the Family area in a single day to expand the population's access to Justice. "We will bring together on the same day the cases of voluntary recognition of paternity and maternity, paternity investigation, in addition to other actions in the Family area, with the aim of protecting the rights of the children and adolescents involved and supporting responsible parenting", he stated. In 2024, the campaign carried out more than 400 free DNA tests and more than 500 legal services related to paternity recognition. In 2025, the initiative provided more than 450 services in the capital.
