According to the Fire Department, the eight people who were in the vehicle managed to get out and survived. Until Thursday night, the minibus remained submerged between 15 and 20 meters deep. ? The investigation aims to determine the causes of the accident, identify possible failures in the provision of public services and verify whether the safety standards applicable to public passenger transport were complied with. What the MPPA asked for The MPPA informed that it sent a letter to the Attorney General of the Municipality of Barcarena, requesting, within 15 days, detailed information about the accident and about the provision of the municipal public transport service. Among the points requested are the concession regime, the operating conditions of the fleet and the inspection actions carried out by the public authorities. The investigation also seeks to clarify whether there were failures in the management, supervision or operation of public transport that may have contributed to the occurrence of the accident. In a note, the City of Barcarena states that it has not officially received communication about the opening of a civil investigation by the MPPA, but that it "reaffirms its total commitment to investigating the facts, making itself available to collaborate with the Public Prosecutor's Office and provide all information requested. At the same time, internal administrative investigations are already underway and will contribute to clarifying the facts."
