The representation was forwarded to the Public Ministry of Paraíba (MPPB) to investigate these possible irregular releases. The measure was announced this Wednesday (22). ? Click here to follow the g1 PB channel on WhatsApp According to the representation, communities located on the banks of rivers such as Jaguaribe, Cabelo and Aratu, which are located on the state's coastal area, release domestic sewage and waste directly into waterways due to the lack of sanitation infrastructure. The MPF also reported that one way to combat marine pollution resulting from this irregular release includes the recovery of river basins that flow into the ocean. Among the measures suggested by the body is the preparation, by the municipality of João Pessoa and the Superintendency of Environmental Administration (Sudema), of a diagnosis of riverside communities existing in the capital's eight river basins. This survey would make it possible to identify the number of families and residents, the time of occupation, the land ownership situation, available sanitation infrastructure and an estimate of the sewage load discharged into the rivers. It was also suggested in the representation that the Paraíba Water and Sewage Company (Cagepa) present a study on the possibility of expanding the sewage collection network for these communities. The MPF wants to know whether this possibility of expanding the waste collection network is technically viable, due to terrain characteristics or the influence of the tides.
