The decision, published on Thursday (23), can still be challenged through appeal. The accident happened on November 24, 2024, when a bus transporting visitors to the Pôr do Sol na Serra project reversed and overturned on an embankment on the banks of the road. Investigations pointed to human error as the cause of the accident. The victims were between 5 and 84 years old. In the decision, prosecutor Ariadne Dantas Meneses ordered the summons, by notice, of the victims' families (click here to check the notice).

According to the Public Ministry, the measure was adopted because the family members do not have lawyers appointed in the files and it was not possible to locate them by email. Family members will be able to appeal against the filing within 30 days, counting from the publication of the decision, made on Wednesday (22). The appeal can be filed in person at the headquarters of the 3rd Public Prosecutor's Office of União dos Palmares or sent to the email pj.3uniaopalmares@mpal.mp.br This report is being updated.
