Motorcyclist dies after running over a federal highway police officer during a checkpoint on BR-116, in Inhapim Edson Simões A motorcyclist died after running over a federal highway police officer during a checkpoint by the Federal Highway Police (PRF), in the early afternoon of this Sunday (26), on BR-116, in Inhapim. The accident happened at km 494 of the highway, between Inhapim and Dom Cavati. The police officer and the motorcycle passenger were seriously injured. According to initial information, the PRF was carrying out an inspection operation on the stretch when the agents ordered the motorcyclist to stop. The driver, however, did not obey the signs and hit one of the police officers participating in the traffic stop. ? The passenger was rescued in serious condition and taken to a local hospital. The federal highway police officer was also seriously injured. He was rescued by a Samu team and taken to Márcio Cunha Hospital, in Ipatinga. According to the doctor responsible for the treatment, the agent suffered a mild head injury, was taken to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and remains under observation.
