She was accompanied by another bird on the edge of Graciosa beach, in Palmas, central region of the state. The species is one of the most emblematic birds of the cerrado, known for its vibrant colors, the practice of forming couples that stay together for life and its strong presence in cities. The video was shared on social media this Saturday (25), by influencer and businessman, Francisco Garcia. "Surreal, incredible. Tocantins has a beautiful sunset, and these macaws create a movie set. It's surreal to be able to have contact with them outdoors, because Palmas, practically every roundabout has one", he told g1. The influencer explains that he kept the equipment at a distance of two meters from the animals, and zoomed in on the camera to get a record. When I observed, she came towards the drone, I kept my distance and managed to record this moment", says Francisco. Born in Paraíba and raised in Maranhão, Francisco is 35 years old and has lived in Tocantins for less than a year. He says he is used to the heat in Tocantins, but says he is still fascinated by birds. "There are two regions with predominant sun, so my skin is already hard, well adapted [to the climate]. But I'm still in that phase of being enchanted by the macaws and owls", he concludes. g1 spoke with biologist Wanieulli Pascoal to understand the macaw's movement. The expert explains that birds from the parrot class - macaws, parrots and parakeets - have this type of response to drones, and it is common. "It's a way of scaring them away, because they see a possible predator in the drone. It has happened to me several times that parakeets are circling my drone, swooping down on it, but I have not yet observed any attack, as occurs in birds of prey that directly attack the drone", he explains. The action may also have been influenced by the existence of a palm tree trunk close to the site, which was being used by the birds as a sleeping place. Wanieulli ends by saying that the species can be gentle with humans, but advises that the species' distance continues to be respected.
