Woman is hit by a mattress that detached from a truck in Parintins A self-employed person was injured after being hit by a box mattress that detached from the body of a truck on Friday (24), on Avenida Nações Unidas, in the center of Parintins, in the interior of Amazonas. The victim, identified as Rosana Lima de Souza, was walking along the road after going out to buy bread when she was surprised by the furniture. Security cameras recorded the moment of the accident. The images show Rosana walking alongside her grandson when the mattress falls from the truck. The child realizes the risk and manages to avoid it along the sidewalk, but the woman is unable to escape in time and is hit. Watch above. Still in pain, Rosana was waiting for medical care at the city's health unit. "It's very painful. I'm not feeling well, I can't walk properly", he reported. According to witnesses, the truck driver stopped the vehicle after the accident, but only to collect the mattress and other furniture that had fallen from the truck bed. According to reports, he did not provide assistance to the victim and left the scene. Rosana was helped by a motorcyclist, who took her to an emergency unit. She suffered bruises on several parts of her body. "They don't try to see what's happening, they don't try to put tape (on the mattress), to have security. Look what happened to me", complained the victim. The case was registered at the Parintins Interactive Police Station. The Civil Police investigate the circumstances of the accident, seek to identify the truck driver and verify the causes of the cargo's detachment. The Municipal Traffic and Transport Company (EMTT) of Parintins was contacted to inform what measures are being taken in relation to the accident, but, until the last update of this report, it had not responded.
