Security Yearbook: feminicides break record, murder rate is the lowest since 2012 Manacapuru is the municipality in Amazonas with the highest rate of Intentional Violent Deaths (MVI) among cities in the state with more than 100 thousand inhabitants, while Parintins recorded the lowest rate in the group. The data is contained in the 20th Brazilian Public Security Yearbook, released this Thursday (23) by the Brazilian Public Security Forum (FBSP). The survey analyzed populous Brazilian municipalities and calculated the rate of violence proportional to every 100,000 residents. ? Intentional violent deaths are classified as: intentional homicides (with intent to kill), feminicides, robberies (robberies followed by death), bodily injuries followed by death and deaths committed by police officers. ? Join the g1 AM channel on WhatsApp Among the four Amazonian cities included in the study, the rates recorded were: Manacapuru: 25.1 deaths per 100 thousand inhabitants Manaus: 17.8 deaths per 100 thousand inhabitants Itacoatiara: 16.7 deaths per 100 thousand inhabitants Parintins: 5.9 deaths per 100 thousand inhabitants The survey, however, does not allow classifying Parintins as the least violent city in the entire state, as municipalities in Amazonas with less than 100 thousand inhabitants were not included in the research. The city of Maranguape, in Ceará, leads the ranking of the most violent in the country, with a rate of 100.3 deaths per 100 thousand residents, registered in 2024. Three cities in Bahia are among the top five: Eunápolis, in second (rate of 85.1), Porto Seguro, in fourth (71.2) and Simões Filho, in fifth (68.1). No municipality in Amazonas appears on the list of the ten most violent cities in the country. The top of the state ranking remains the same compared to 2024, despite drops in rates: In 2nd place, Bahia saw the rate reduce 10%: from 40.7 to 36.8; In 3rd place, Ceará had a 7.5% drop in the rate of violent deaths, from 37.5 to 34.7. The bottom part of the ranking, with the least violent states, underwent a change: Santa Catarina now has the lowest rate of violent deaths in the country: 7.6 per 100 thousand inhabitants. With the number, the southern state replaces São Paulo as the one with the fewest violent deaths. São Paulo recorded a rate of 7.8 violent deaths per 100 thousand inhabitants. Across the country, 19 states and the Federal District saw a drop in rates, while seven of them saw an increase.
