The defendant must pay more than R$14,000 in compensation for collective material and moral damages. The dog survived injuries caused by an attack that happened in March this year. According to the sentence, the man was convicted of the crime of animal abuse and sentenced to 4 years, 1 month and 22 days in prison, in addition to paying a 17-day fine. The judge established an open regime for serving the sentence and granted the defendant the right to appeal freely. The decision also determined the payment of R$4,234 for material damages, intended to reimburse the veterinarian's expenses for caring for and treating the dog, in addition to R$10,000 for collective moral damages. The magistrate also decreed the definitive loss of possession of the animal by the convicted person.
