Disclosure/ Civil Police A 52-year-old man, who had been on the run from justice for more than ten years, was arrested this Thursday morning (23), in Bacabal (MA). According to the Maranhão Civil Police, he was the subject of a preventive arrest warrant and is responsible for a qualified homicide that occurred in Pindaré-Mirim. The man is also being investigated on suspicion of participation in another homicide, recently recorded in Santa Inês. According to the Civil Police, the case related to the homicide that occurred in Pindaré-Mirim has been pending in court since January 2014 and is the responsibility of the Jury Court. In the second case, the man is suspected of involvement in the death of a 49-year-old man, known as "Biziu", who lived in the Aeroporto neighborhood, in Santa Inês. The victim disappeared on the afternoon of July 5, after leaving home. His mother remained at the scene, an elderly woman with visual impairment who was under his care. After registering the disappearance, the Civil Police began the search with the support of the Military Police, the Military Fire Department and the Municipal Civil Guard of Santa Inês. On July 9, the victim's body was found with signs of violence in a wooded area close to a deactivated pottery, in the Aeroporto neighborhood. Since the disappearance was reported, the Homicide and Personal Protection Police Station (DHPP) of Santa Inês opened an investigation. Family members and witnesses were interviewed, and images from public and private security cameras were analyzed. Police also mapped the area using a drone, extracted data from electronic devices and monitored the suspect. The investigations allowed the investigation to be identified and located, which led to the execution of the arrest warrant this Thursday. DHPP reported that investigations continue to clarify how the crime occurred, what the motivation was and whether other people participated. After legal procedures, the man was sent to the prison system, where he remains at the disposal of the Justice.
