According to the Military Police, the team was on motorcycle patrol when they received a report that a shirtless man wearing blue shorts was armed and threatening people passing by on the street. Upon arriving at the scene, police found a suspect matching the characteristics described. According to the PM, he tried to take refuge in a store when he noticed the team approaching, resisted the approach, kept one of his hands hidden and then pointed what appeared to be a firearm at the police officers. ? Given the situation, one of the police officers fired a shot, which hit the man in the left side of the chest. Even though he was injured, he ran for about 200 meters before being caught and detained. After the approach, the police verified that the object used by the man was a simulacrum of a revolver, known as a toy gun or replica. The team provided first aid until the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) arrived. The man was taken to Hospital e Pronto-Socorro 28 de Agosto, where he remained in stable condition and was awaiting surgery, according to the PM.
